About Me

Greetings! My name is Karen Haberstro-Walls.

All my life I have enjoyed decorating all of the homes I have lived in. My big sister and I shared a bedroom growing up and I drove her crazy with my regular re-arranging of “my side” of the room! As I got older and relocated many times due to my college career and a simple wanderlust, I re-used whatever furniture and accessories I had acquired. My homes have ranged from city apartments to simple farmhouses to grand Victorians. It was great fun making all of those same items work in very different style houses. The common thread in those houses was that they were all rental properties which brings a whole set of unique design challenges with them. It never daunted me, though! So when my husband and I finally bought our own place, I was thrilled at all of the decorating opportunities that opened up! I’m having the time of my life making our house our home. To this day you can usually find me re-arranging furnishings, re-painting walls and re-purposing a multitude of items (creating a purpose for an item other than its intended use) during my free time.

I am married to a wonderful man and am blessed with the most incredible son, who is now 15 years old. Fortunately they are both creative in their own rights and fully support, sometimes participate in (and okay, I’ll admit – at times tolerate) my ‘projects’ in and around our home!

My family and I are fortunate to live amongst the gorgeous rolling hills of the Finger Lakes Region of Western New York State. Having grown up in the New York City Metropolitan area, I love the lifestyle and landscapes this area offers. Nothing compares to the inspirations offered by Mother Nature’s palette!

My formal Arts and Design education was received at the New York State College of Ceramics in Alfred, New York where I earned by Bachelor of Fine arts Degree. Six years ago I obtained my real estate license. Consequently, I have an understanding of the real estate business as well as the design skills to make your house look beautiful. When I stage your home, this combination results in providing you, the seller, a distinct advantage over your competition.  More recently, I received my professional Interior Redesign and Home Staging training through one of the country’s pioneers in the field, Barbara Jennings, CSS/CRS.  Plus, I simply love doing what I do and I always have. To me, that is the most important element to success!
